John A. Black (R) was first elected to office in November 2006, and took his Oath of Office on January 1st, 2007. He represents Brome County’s Sixteenth Legislative District which includes parts of Endwell and Maine.

Legislator Black is a member of the County Administration Committee as well as the Health and Human Services Committee.

Mr. Black has had a law office in Endicott since 1972 and has operated his own practice since 1980. Legislator Black is a graduate of LaFayette College with a B.A. Degree in History and received his Jurist Doctorate from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1969. His prior work experience includes Scarsdale National Bank & Trust as well as Marine Midland Bank, New York.

Mr. Black has been involved in numerous programs in the community. Some of those include: member of the Broome County Library Board for ten years and the Four County Library Board for approximately five years; former Director of the Estate Planning Council of the Southern Tier; President of the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad; member of the United Way Panel #2; past President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Endwell Rotary Club; WSKG Auction 46 volunteer; former Treasurer and Director of the Broome Legal Assistance Corp., and several legal positions with the Town of Union.

John resides on Debonair Drive in Endwell with his wife Judy.
