Broome County STOP-DWI Announces 2003 STOP-DWI Holiday Classic Tournament Field

Gonzaga, Simon-Gratz, St. Thomas Headline National Division Field

BINGHAMTON, NY - It may be March Madness now, but it will be December Madness in Broome County when the STOP-DWI Holiday Classic tips off December 27th - 29th for its 12th Anniversary edition. The 2003 tournament will feature an outstanding field featuring past STOP-DWI Holiday Classic tourney champions and national powers, St. Thomas Aquinas of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Gonzaga Collegiate High School of Washington, DC. Joining them will be the tourney's 1995 and 1999 champions, Christ The King Regional High School of Middle Village, New York.

Challenging for tournament honors will be perennial national power Simon-Gratz High School of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore Catholic League Champion and HOOPS USA nationally ranked #6 St. Joseph's High School of Baltimore, Maryland. For the first time State of Delaware participant Sanford School of Hockessin, Delaware and Ohio State power Winton Woods from Cincinnati, Ohio will also join play. Rounding out the national division bracket will be the 2002 tournament runner-up and host, Binghamton High School.

The STOP-DWI Holiday Classic is a project of the Broome County STOP-DWI Program. The tournament's mission is to educate and encourage high school athletes to become leaders in the effort to combat teenage drunk driving and substance abuse in their schools and communities.
