Kraham Presents New Bikes to Area Kids

BINGHAMTON, NY -- At a news conference this afternoon, held in the Edwin L. Crawford County Office Building, County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham presented new bikes to 5 area young people. Their names were selected from a drawing sponsored by the Broome County Security Division and held recently at Oakdale Mall during Broome County’s Police Week.

The winners: Matt Cabello of Binghamton, who won a 24" Trek all-terrain bicycle; Scott Egitto of Binghamton, who won a 24" Trek all-terrain bicycle, Dylan Evanish of Endwell, who won a 16" Trek all-terrain bicycle; Heather Fergusen of Whitney Point, who won a 20" Trek all-terrain bike; and Abbey Rossman of Endwell, who won a 20" Trek all-terrain bike.

"We thought this would be a great way to promote the importance of bicycle safety, especially as we approach the busy summer season," said Jim Dadamio, who organized the drawing and serves as Senior Investigator for Broome County Security.

The bikes -- including helmets -- were purchased from Babcock Bicycles of Endicott out of a trust account set up by the Broome County Legislature. The account was established specifically for promoting roadway safety during Police Week in Broome County.

"Many thanks to Jim Dadamio and Security Director Carl A. Fenescey, for having the vision to create this great drawing," said Mr. Kraham. "I hope Matt, Scott, Dylan, Heather, and Abbey have many miles of enjoyment on their bikes and always remember to ride safely."

Broome County’s Security Division has a natural affinity for bikes with at least ten officers on wheels during the summer at Nathaniel Cole, Dorchester, Otsiningo, and Grippen Parks and at Broome Community College.
