Greater Binghamton Airport July Passenger Boardings Announced
Highest Single Monthly Value in Nearly Seven Years

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive, Jeff Kraham, is pleased to report that passenger boarding numbers at the Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) are up for the 24th consecutive month. July passenger boardings at the Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) have increased by 3.6% compared to the same period last year and are up 11.8% from January to July, compared to the same period a year ago. In July of 2004, 13,091 passengers flew from BGM compared to 12,637 in July of 2003. This is the highest monthly passenger total for the Greater Binghamton Airport since October of 1997 when 13,157 people departed from BGM.

"The airport is truly a local economic success story as it has reached levels of passenger activity that haven't been attained in nearly seven years," said Broome County Executive Jeff Kraham. "It is evident that the travelers of our region are taking full advantage of the quality air service options and reasonable airfares available at our airport. Passengers simply find the Greater Binghamton Airport a better way to go," added Kraham.

Currently, the Greater Binghamton Airport offers service from 4 of the nation's 7 largest airlines providing convenient service to most domestic and international destinations. The airlines currently serving the Greater Binghamton area include Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, United Express and US Airways Express.

As a result of this consistent increase of passenger activity, airlines continue to upgrade the type of aircraft available to and from BGM. For example, beginning September 8th, United Express will begin offering new regional jet service between Binghamton and Washington D.C. In addition, US Airways announced that beginning November 7th service between BGM and Philadelphia will feature a total of seven arrivals and seven departures. Of these 14 flights, a total of 12 flights will be operated on regional jet aircraft. This aircraft enhancement will increase the overall percentage of flights operated on jet aircraft at the Greater Binghamton Airport to an impressive 75%.
