World AIDS Day Planning Moves Forward
BINGHAMTON, NY - Anyone who is interested in volunteering to help plan for local World AIDS Day events this year is invited to attend the next meeting of the regional HIV Care Network's Community Awareness Committee on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 from 3 PM to 4:30 PM at the Broome County Health Department, 225 Front Street, Binghamton.
Each year on December 1st, a local event is held in remembrance of individuals, friends, loved ones, and family members who have died from HIV/AIDS. The event is also an opportunity for organizations and elected officials to renew their commitment to increasing awareness about the AIDS epidemic as it impacts us locally, and to promote HIV prevention throughout the community. The Community Awareness Committee of the HIV Care Network will meet again on October 3rd to continue the process that began on September 13 to plan local World AIDS Day remembrance events.
The HIV Care Network is a regional planning coalition funded by the NYS Department of Health AIDS Institute, Statewide AIDS Service Delivery Consortium. The lead agency of the HIV Care Network is the Broome County Health Department.
Any person regardless of background or experience, is welcome to attend. Youth, teachers, and college students are especially encouraged to get involved this year and are welcome to join us in planning efforts. If you are interested in volunteering this year, please RSVP by calling 607.778.2858 or 607.778.3066.
