Continental Connection To Begin Air Service At Greater Binghamton Airport

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Jeffrey P. Kraham is pleased to announce that Commutair, dba Continental Connection will commence air service at Greater Binghamton Airport beginning Saturday, December 2, 2000.

Commutair will offer six round trip flights per day including three daily departures to New York's La Guardia International Airport. Local travelers will delight in the quick and comfortable one-hour flight on a Beech 1900 aircraft to major metropolitan business and leisure destinations. Travel will also be enhanced by offering same day service to New York City with flights leaving as early as 6:15 a.m.

"This new service combined with our brand new passenger terminal will assist the increasing number of business and leisure travelers working in the Binghamton region who need easier access to New York City," said Mr. Kraham.

The commencement of Commutair also marks the first time that Continental Airlines have offered service at the Greater Binghamton Airport since 1997. "This is wonderful news for the travelers of our region," Mr. Kraham said "by getting back into the Continental Airline system, travelers now have more choice in which airline to fly with.

Since taking office in 1997, Mr. Kraham has cited improvements to the Greater Binghamton Airport as one of the top priorities of his administration. Governor Pataki and Senator Thomas Libous joined Mr. Kraham one month ago at the opening of the new Binghamton Airport Terminal. The $13.7 million project was funded with $6.7 million in federal funds and $6.4 million in State funds and $600,000 in local passenger facility charge funds.
