County Executive Reminds Residents To Look Out For Elderly Neighbors
BINGHAMTON, NY - With the arrival of the first winter snowfall, Broome County Executive, Jeffrey Kraham and the Broome County Office for the Aging remind residents to look around their neighborhood for seniors and disabled individuals who may need help to deal with winter's snow and ice.
Snow and ice can prevent senior citizens and the disabled from leaving their homes and prohibits needed services from being delivered to them. Many seniors and disabled individuals do not have family or friends who are able to help them clear the pathways to their home.
Can you take a few minutes to offer to clear their porch, steps and sidewalk to keep pathways open and safe for them and their service providers? Do they need help with groceries or other shopping if the weather is bad or severely cold?
Please check on your neighbors and help make this winter season a safer time for the elderly and disabled in your neighborhood.
