Holiday Parade, Film, and Tree Lighting Celebration
BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala, Mayor Matt Ryan, members of the Downtown Binghamton Business Association (DBBA) and the staff at Boscov's held a morning press conference at Boscov's in downtown Binghamton to announce the details of the Annual Holiday Parade.
On November 17th, Boscov's will host their annual Holiday Parade in downtown Binghamton. This year, Broome County is sponsoring a free winter film before the parade. The film Elf will be featured at noon at the Forum Theater located downtown at 236 Washington St. An organist from the Binghamton Theater Organ Society will provide an opening performance from 11:30am until noon.
Following the film all are encouraged to line the streets for the holiday parade which will begin at Main St. and Arthur St. at 2:30pm and will end at the Broome County Courthouse. Following the parade, the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place on the Broome County Courthouse lawn.
“There are so many events taking place to welcome the holiday season,” said Executive Fiala. “Following the success of our free summer film series, we wanted to give families another chance to be entertained this holiday season. We hope to have a full house at the Forum for the winter film, Elf.”
“I would like to welcome all to attend this entertaining day of events in our vibrant downtown,” said Mayor Matt Ryan. “Come enjoy this wonderful annual tradition, and join in celebrating the holidays.”
“We are happy to partner with other downtown business and our local government to celebrate the holiday season,” said Brenda Bennett, Boscov's Director of Public Relations. “Our parade has become a wonderful annual event to commence the holiday season.”
“We welcome all to come downtown to kick off the holiday season,” said Ron Sall, President of the DBBA. “Come stroll along with your family and enjoy the shops and galleries in the downtown.”
There will be free hot chocolate and cookies available after the parade donated by the DBBA. The Downtown Singers will be performing before the tree lighting on the courthouse steps.
