Executive Fiala Attends County Executives of America Board of Directors Meeting

BINGHAMTON, NY - Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala traveled to Washington D.C. today to attend the County Executives of America (CEA) Board of Directors Meeting. CEA is a non-partisan group that includes membership of over 700 elected executives of a county or a consolidated city/county government. Executive Fiala is one of 24 CEA Board of Directors that help lead the national organization. She was appointed as a board member in 2005.

"CEA provides and opportunity for county leaders from across the country, to address issues and share current best practices," said Executive Fiala. "I am pleased to serve as a board member for the organization. The combined effort of CEA membership proves to be a significant lobbying arm in Washington to benefit local communities.”

During the two day conference leaders and experts will address issues such as the rising costs of criminal justice, retirement and workplace benefits for county employees, and the fight against narcotics in communities. The CEA network provides complete operation information on issues pertaining to county governments to assist executives in providing services efficiently and effectively. Through CEA, County leaders have the ability to address specific issues that are occurring throughout the United States and discuss successful solutions.
