“TIPS” ALCOHOL SERVER TRAINING AWARENESS PROGRAM
The Broome County STOP-DWI Program in conjunction with the Broome County District Attorney’s Office, offers a “TIPS” (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) alcohol server training awareness program for area restaurants, hotels, bars, and nightclubs.
The “TIPS” Program’s goal is to empower participants to follow acceptable standards of
practice for serving alcohol beverages. The program is New York State TIPS certified.
The Program is offered twice a year with a class length of six hours.
There are numerous benefits for establishments having their servers attend the “TIPS”
Training Program:
- Helps to reduce incidences of driving while intoxicated (DWI)
- Heightens awareness, skills, and professionalism of the servers
- Enhances community standing for the business establishment
- Other possible benefits include: insurance discounts, regulatory compliance, and legal protection (in the form of “TIPS” providing a “reasonable efforts defense”).
To attend the “TIPS” Program, there is a registration fee that covers the cost of attendee’s manual, handouts, lunch, and the “TIPS” certified instructor fee.)
As future “TIPS” Programs are planned and scheduled, news releases will be sent to announce dates, times, and location. For more information, contact the STOP-DWI Office at 607-778-2056.
